Ku Mohon

I went for karaoke with a gf yesterday and karaoke never fails to bring out the closet minah diva in me. For those who understand Malay, Ku Mohon (loosely translated: I Hope) by Sheila Majid has got to be my favourite Malay song. It’s heartfelt, serene and touching. I cry all the time at this beautiful song! Although I do not really know some of the meaning of some of the Malay words (such as sanubariku and cekalkan), I do get the gist of the overall meaning. What I like about the song is that it isn’t one of those typical love song about a man, lost love yadda yadda.. it is about “me” (i.e. the person singing the song) asking God for guidance, strength, patience, blessings.. the ability to overcome obstacles and challenges that life has thrown at me.

Needless to say, it is a song of hope, hence the name, Ku Mohon.

Ku Mohon – Sheila Majid

“Setiap hari ku
Mohon agar Kau sentiasa
Memberiku ketenangan
Dalam hati… kekuatan

Menempuhi segala dugaan yang mencabar ini
Pasti punya ertinya

Engkau beriku harapan
Menjawab segala persoalan
Hadapi semua dalam tenang
Dengan merasa kesyukuran

Ku doa Kau selalu
Mengawasai gerak-geriku

Hancur berderailah akhirnya
Tabahkanlah hatiku
Melalui semua itu ooh…
Kuatkanlah
Cekalkanlah diriku

Oh Tuhan terangkan hati dalam sanubariku
Untuk menempuhi segala hidup penuh cabaran ini
Oh Tuhan ku berserah segalanya kepada Mu
Agar jiwaku tenang dengan bimbingan Mu selalu
Curahkanlah nikmat Mu pada hidupku

Oh Tuhan terangkan hati dalam sanubariku
Untuk menempuhi segala hidup penuh cabaran ini
Oh Tuhan ku berserah segalanya kepadaMu
Agar jiwaku tenang dengan bimbingan Mu selalu”

Hello!

It’s been a loooooooonng while, eh?

Let’s see.. well, I’m FAT now. I’ve gained 5kgs eversince and am trying to lose that excess kilos. Pffft.

When I gain weight, it shows on my arms and tummy. Gone are the days of the youthful 20s when I can just not eat for 12 hours and wah-lahhhh I get back my flat stomach. Now in my 30s, I starve myself for 12 days and the sickening bulging tummy’s still there! Sheesh!

Anyways, time was a luxury and boy am I GLAD that it’s now December…

… which means I can now breath a little and indulge in my <other> avenue of escapism – reading brainless chick lit.

By the pool.

And getting a tan.

And getting all engrossed in my book.

And then getting all sunburnt.

And me getting all grouchy after that.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!

*I’ve a habit of re-reading my favourite books more than once. Oh, please pardon my ugly toes ;-)

My Muses

Women I love and whom I am greatly inspired by in terms of fashion and style:

Marilyn Monroe

Audrey Hepburn

and of course,

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel

My modern day female icons would be:

Victoria Beckham

Angelina Jolie

and the gorgeous…

 Sienna Miller

Of course there are those like Twiggy, Grace Kelly and Edie Sedgwick and modern day ones like Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss, Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker – all of whom I adore too. But if you were to ask me on my Ultimate 6, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Coco Chanel, Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie and Sienna Miller would be IT.

Who are your muses?

England 1 – South Korea 0

Guess who?

It’s Nia! She’s all grown up (well she’s only 2 1/2! lol) and is now a big sister!

Hello Daniel! Daniel was born sometime in March this year.

I’ve been contemplating to either head to UK to see my family and friends again or follow a colleague for her annual prigrimage to South Korea this December.  Looking at these photos, it takes no Einstein to figure where my heart is inclined to go (at the moment).

Yes, I am sadden and appalled by chaos that went on in England but thank goodness my loved ones are alright. And no, I am not deterred from going. Why would I? I’ll fill you in my holiday plans in late October when things are better settled at my end xxx

Perfectly Flawed

Remember I mentioned that I was heading to the ArtScience Museum last weekend? I was there to catch the Van Gogh and the Dali Exhibition. Oh, we caught the Shipwrecked Exhibition too but that wasn’t as fun and interesting as the former two.

(GTD: Blazer+Cami: Osmose; Jeans: Cotton On; Bag: LV; Shoes: Ferragamo; Watch: Tag Heuer; Earrings: Chanel; Brooch: Chomel; Necklace: F21; Rings: Tiffany and LeeHwa)

I lovelovelove museums!

There were lots of Van Gogh and Dali quotes lining the walls of the museum and I particularly like this qoute..

However, perfection is not what I seek for I like being flawed.

I will post more another time.

Hello, Trevi!

I should have gotten the YSL Chyc. I know I should since I have been coveting for it since like forever. But I kept digressing along the way. I cant say no to Chanel. Who could?

And, I couldn’t say no to this baby either..

The Trevi is the latest Louis Vuitton in the family. And I think this could be my last LV. Cos I don’t really fancy LV that much but I do own a few and well, I needed a Damier that I can sling over the shoulder (my Damier Neverfull doesn’t count as a handbag – I use that to lug my scripts and laptop to work and the Alma, well now that I have this baby, the Alma has to go).

Oh, have I ever mentioned that paperbags dont last long in my household cos I have a paperbag terminator living with me?

More on Coco

I miss my Coco when I am at work.  But he gets to my nerves when I am at home with him..

Just a few weeks ago, my boy plucked a leaf from my bamboo plant when I wasnt looking and brought it over to me – like some game.

Look at how he grabbed my hand with his paws as I tried to pull the leaf away from his jaws. He loves munching on leaves, much to my annoyance.

See what I mean? He wouldnt let go! By the time I managed to pry it away from him, the leaf was half-gone. Grrrrrrrrr! And his whole mouth smelt of grass!

As punishment, I banished him to his cage and he started to groom himself right after I plonked him in. He wasn’t fussed that obviously. Well, maybe slightly miffed looking at the glare he gave me here. Tsk tsk.

Hello, Millie!

I am myopic. And I am blind without my glasses or contact lenses. I should go for lasik surgery but everytime I think about spending that money on the surgery and how there could be possible complications, I buy bags, or shoes instead. Pffftt.

My gf, Ann who is a Kate Spade addict got a pair of Millie peepers in late May and I like her Millie so much that I got myself a pair a week or so after.

Who can resist polka-dots?

I know I cant. Especially so when they are so affordable. Only SG$180!

Like Ann, I got the lenses changed (it wasnt cheap though cos the degrees of my eyes are quite high).

And well, guess what, I have not used these glasses yet eventhough I have had them for more than a month. Hmmmmm.

Clowns in Rags

Teenagers – they can be sweet. But for most times, they are bloody defensive.

 And incredibly CHILDISH.

 And impossibly IMMATURE.

But then again, considering their youth, inexperience and wee little minds, what do they know? *shrugs shoulders*

I must say that it is not always difficult for me to realize that I am the bigger person.

Pssst: I work with teenagers by the way. Older teenagers – 17-20 year olds.

It is nothing new but I am always amazed at how the internet rounds clowns in rags (pun, very oh so most definitely, intended) together to form a circus.

Hur hur hur.
