Indulgent Saturday

It was Ying’s, Rozz’s & Sara’s idea of an advance birthday treat for Anabel and me on one fine Saturday on the 6th of February.

The last time we met, we had stuffed ourselves silly. And stuffed ourselves silly, we did again that day. *Burp*

Thank you ladies for the beautiful treat!

We met up at Spruce at Pheonix Park first for brunch.

Anabel clearly delighted with her traditional British breakfast!

And Sara with her lychee champagne

And I was seemingly enjoying the scorching mid-day sun..

Anabel then had a gig to go to, so we made our way to the Tippling Club at Dempsey to chill.

Clearly we didn’t adhere to the policy cos we were granted permission to snap away since it was my birthday!

Rozz, Ying & Sara going through the menu..

Bicarbonated grapes to cleanse our palates.

Some foam with pistachio crumble. SPECIAL BIRTHDAY TREAT compliments of the chef..

Sara’s Pisco Sour

 Ying’s kopi-O

A special concoction cos I couldnt drink the drinks on the menu as Im a teetotaler.

Does this look like something from a science lab?

It’s actually Rozz’s Velvet Fog..

More appetizers – black truffles sandwich with brie..

Sara’s orgasmatic expression upon eating the yucky brie..

Rozz clearly loving it..

At the open-concept restrooms..

Aesops! Bliss!

How eco-friendly!

Outdoors at the patio…

Overlooking the main building of House..

And a sea of greenery!

Heading up to the carpark..

And we made our way to Mandarin Gallery…

Us at Wild Honey..

Rozz’s Tunisian..

My dish – the Belgian..

This was Sara’s. Cant remember what it was.. the Canadian, I think..

And we had tea and juice..

After which we met Aixa and had more tea at Spinelli @ Heeren..

On turning Thr3e-O

I turned 30 on Wednesday, February 10th. That was 4 days ago. It was an experience cos I spent my birthday at the cemetery. And it was the first time that I witnessed a burial and went through a funeral ritual – live in person.

The husband’s foster uncle passed away on the eve of my birthday. Uncle Johnny died of Stage 4 cancer.

Of course no one wants anything unfortunate to happen on their birthdays. I wasn’t that affected cos I barely know this uncle. I was extremely upset  however for his family - especially his elder sister (who is the husband’s foster mother). Uncle Johnny was a 53 year old bachelor and Aunty was his caregiver.

The plan for the 9th of February was to visit Uncle Johnny at the hospital in the evening, have a nice dinner with the husband after that and then come back home to a house full of people who mean a lot to me. The latter was supposed to be a surprise. On my birthday itself, since I didn’t wanna go to Timbre – Arts House, where the boys will be playing, I was to meet my bffs (Ilah, Fazi, Wan & Shana) for dinner. Unknowingly, my other clique of girls (Sara, Rozz, Ann, Aixa and company) had also planned to “kidnap” me to go salsa dancing that night. That too was supposed to be a surprise.

But that didn’t happen for obvious reasons.

I took time-off from work on Wednesday to help out and attend the funeral in the morning. My kind boss told me to take the whole day off but I had an important meeting to conduct in the afternoon, hence I went back to work after lunch. When I got back to work on Thursday, I was greeted with a bunch of flowers left on my desk from my department.

I was touched and I don’t think I can ask for a better boss or colleagues.

I would be lying if I say that I wasn’t looking forward to celebrate my 30th on the day itself. But, I was and am not sour or bitter. I was okay and am still okay actually :-)  And Aunty seems okay too so all is good :-)

Anyhow, my parents bought me a peaches+cream cake.

I hate cream! They can never get my birthday cake right! Last year it was strawberries+cream. Yucks! Mommy, if you are reading this, please get the cake right next year, will ya!

Well, the husband promise to make it up to me on one of these days and I already had a lovely pre-birthday celebration meet-up last weekend with some of the girls. And oh, before my birthday day ended, a bunch of friends barged into my bedroom with a cake as I was too exhausted to leave home.

PLUS, I received 6 gorgeous robin-blue boxes of presents so far.

Photos on those will be posted up soon. Now I gotta get ready for CNY visiting!

Toodelooooo!!

All hail the Tiger!

How do I know it’s Chinese New Year?

It’s when when my parents’ house is full of mandarin oranges. I love CNY cos of all the hong baos I get to stuff myself silly with loads and loads of them! The sweetest oranges tend to be the ugliest wrinkly cellulite-y ones!

恭喜发财,万事如意,主里蒙恩!

Gong Xi Fa Cai, Wan Shi Ru Yi, Zhu Li Meng En!

Happy Tiger Year!

Oh and Happy Valentines Day too! Do enjoy your long weekend!

The 2010 Wishlist

I don’t think I have any material wishlist this year. I have been thinking long and hard but the only thing that I truly desire is unattainable (well, for this year at least), hence I have decided that I will take whatever that comes along into stride and live spontaneously this year without the need to target and plan as I don’t anticipate any big-budget purchases this year (unlike last year when we bought our apartment).

I, however, wish and hope that this year is a better year for my friends and loved ones. Those around us (at least for me) have been plagued by one tragedy after another and if I could only help to take away their pain and hurt, I would. I wish that all my friends and loved ones will get what they’ve always wanted this year *crosses fingers*.

So there. That’s my wish.

On a happier note, one of my bffs is finally pregnant!!! Yay!!! I hope all goes well for that one for I cannot wait to hold that baby in my hands in August!

Travel-wise: Several regional places are already on the cards. And oh, I would love to go back to Britian for a visit this year, but it all depends on my workload, the husband’s schedule and the economy.

Hmmmmmmm.. We’ll see.

Oh and I’d better say this here now cos I won’t be able to say it any longer in a few days time:

I AM STILL IN MY 20s!

Yes, I am.

Cupid Trustz

Last Friday, I attended a function at Cupid Jewelry @ Orchard Central courtesy of Rozz. The jewelry, as Ann pointed out, had that Room 101 vibe.. very Ed Hardy. Very edgy. Very punk-rock. And they don’t come cheap.

The exterior showcase.. it does have that Ed Hardy feel, don’t you think?

The avant garde decor was designed by renowned interior designer, Karim Rashid.

We had a lovely time with the champagne and hor d’oeuvres. And of course, a whale of a time oogling at the bling-blings.

I took a fancy on this particular eternity band…

While Ann fell in love with these pieces..

And she couldn’t resist to try them on!

Here are some of the other pieces on display, as seen from the catalogue which we each took home:

And as a parting take-home gift, we each got a little black notebook embossed with the words “cupid” on the front, with a pretty white rose tied in between a white bow.

Then we headed to Trustz Gigolo Bar at Le Meridien – where Rozz bought this cute Thai boy for $50 for Silver. Hilarious, I tell ya!

Here is Silver.. She is a senior promo exec at 987FM..

This is Steph and Wykidd..

And Rozz and Gillian..

The whole gang @ Trustz Gigolo Bar..

Ann and I didn’t stay long as we had to meet Noel and Dray to pick the husband up from Timbre Mobile.

The Goodfellas LOVE little Drayden Boyd..

And little Drayden loves his Aunty D’s yellow chevy! lol

We then went for supper at Geylang Serai before calling it a night..
