Hello, Linah Madden!

Say hello to my latest Steve Madden.

Her name is Linah. She will join Karo in the Madden’s Department in the shoe cabinet.

I had wanted to get the peach coloured ones but they didn’t come in size 5 so I opted for the black. Yes, I know I’ve too many black shoes, but these are different! They come with studs in the front which will go fabulously well with my YSL Rock Easy bag!

I love Steve Madden shoes because they don’t exactly burn a hole in my pocket as they usually cost no more than SG$250 (thereabouts) on average per pair.

Decadent Sunday

Weeks ago, Anthony sent me facebook invite for a Sunday champagne brunch for Farizan’s 30th last weekend.

It was supposed to be a surprise for her.

I wanted to wear a nice Sunday dress but since I was LATE (no surprises there), I dressed casually. And comfortably.

(Top: Cotton On; Jeans: J Brand; Shoes: Aldo; Bag: Balenciaga; watch: DKNY; leather bracelet: Hermes; rings: Tiffany & Co. Earrings: some flea market ones.)

It was bad enough that I was late. I got lost too! Brunch was at Brasserie Les Saveur @ St Regis. I parked at Regent Hotel instead. I realised to my horror that I had to walk on the uneven road and cross the street to St Regis in my sky-scraper heels in hot midday sun. I had to do a bloody balancing act so as not to fall flat on my face.

So not glam, I tell you.

Anyways, Brasserie Les Saveur was worth the balancing circus-act ordeal.

We had a table overlooking the pool..

That’s the birthday girl looking all stunning in red!

The food was fabbbbbbbulous! It was soo sooo sooo luxuriously good! I was in great company (there were 7 of us) so I totally forgot to take photos of the gorgeous food I had.

Aside from the oysters on my blackberry which I posted on my fb mobile uploads..

Oh and look at this cute minute Tabasco bottle!

Anyways anyways, Anthony is such a lovely boyfriend! He got Farizan a pair of Louboutin Bianca 140!!!

He has already gotten her a CL Rolando 120 and a No Prive! She is one lucky girl indeed!! (Psst: Farizan has one of the most gorgeous and sexiest pair of legs I’ve ever seen on any woman.)

Happy 30th, love!! Welcome to the 30s Club! Here’s to many more Louboutins to come! Hehehe..

I then spent the whole afternoon all by myself in town thinking I should do a bout of workout from eating all that food by window shopping. I burnt a hole in my pocket instead.

I met the husband at his workplace in the evening and we joined Pheobe at Jumbo @ Dempsey

And where I *gasp* ate some more!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE CHILLI CRABS AT JUMBO!!

They are the best!

What a decadent Sunday indeed!

The Lantern

My gf Alicia and her beau were in town last weekend and Shana and I met up with her at the Fullerton Bay Hotel..

It has been ages since I played dress up so dressed up I did…

(Dress: New Look; Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120; Clutch: Chanel; watch: Tag Heuer; necklace: Lee Hwa; rings: Bvlgari and Tiffany & Co. I forgot to wear my earrings in this shot. The earrings are from ASOS.)

A close-up of the lace dress..

Anyways Shana and I were late and Alicia and her mates were already seated at The Lantern..

Well, the Fullerton Bay Hotel is a 6-star establishment. And it was my first time at The Lantern.

And I was not impressed with it.

Yeah, okay the view is magnificent.

The service was so-so (I asked for a Virgin Mojito and they served me a non-virgin one. Thank goodness I didnt choke on it).

BUT guess what, they served their drinks in PLASTIC

I expected more actually. I mean hello? 6-STAR?? How can they serve their drinks in cheap plastic? I complained to some friends after about it and they told me that because the place is on a roof-top, it could be due to safety reasons. You wouldn’t want glass raining on you as you walk on the streets because of some drunkard, do you? Oh well, whatever the reason may be, I am still unfazed.

Anyways, here is Alicia..

We went to Cedar together. And the last time we met up was years ago in Scotland. I totally forgot that I met up with her when she came to Europe. She reckoned that I was too drunk that time during the Edinburgh Festival to remember. Hmmmm..

Alicia and her beau left for a holiday in Vietnam the day after and she’ll be back again in time for Chinese New Year.

Now, will I patronise The Lantern again? Maybe not.

So Chyc!

I want need another flap bag. In beige/camel/brown/ivory. I would love to get another Chanel. A 2.55 maxi. Yeah, I’m aiming for that. And maybe a 2.55 226 too. (Nah, not a 225 or WOC – the smallest I’d go is 226. I’ve too many things to lug around!).

But I would only want to buy Chanels direct from Europe. Singapore prices are ridiculous. So those will have to wait till the end of the year.

A cheaper alternative would be the YSL Chyc. I love YSL!

This baby looks decidedly vintage but somehow manages to exude a contemporary feel. I like!

Well, we’ll see. I’m trying not to spend for a month or so cos I’m heading to HK for a couple of days in March so I should be disciplined.

Hmmmmm… *trying to pry herself away from the Internet*

Say what?

I was watching the Asian Food Channel yesterday and there they were, a bunch of Aussies cooking chicken and brinjal in a kitchen and I got nostalgic.

See, when I first learnt how to talk, I always got confused between “chicken” and “kitchen”.

Papa would crack up whenever I used to say, “Mama is in the chicken”.

I never understood then, why it was so funny.

When I was about 7, I learnt more words. It was fruit/vegetable week in school and I learnt the word “aubergines”.

It was about the same time too that I learnt more about Australia and the aborigines from an uncle who just got back from a trip.

Then whenever Mama asked what I would like for dinner, my answer would be: “I’d like my aborigines cooked with fish in assam pedas please, Mama”.

Erm, no, I wasn’t dyslexic.

My parents and uncles always got hysterical and I was often encouraged to use the word “brinjal” or “eggplant” instead when talking about the fruit/veg.

In case you are wondering, of course I know the difference in articulating those words now. *lol*

What were your childhood tongue twisters?

Hello, Loubie Piggy!

My little piggy arrived yesterday…

My kitty was just as anxious as his mommy to meet the piggy..

Oh common common, so many layers to get to the shoes!

“I hope it bloody fits!” These were my EXACT words. “They HAD better f*&king fit!”

Say hello to my CL Pigalle 120!

Trivia: Do you know that the Pigalle is named after the French equivalent of the ‘Red-Light District’ in Amsterdam. What an appropriate name, as it drips and basks in ‘SEX’ from every curve and arch, don’t you think?

Now, do they fit?

Yes, they do! However, the toe-box is a lil tight but I was told that the leather needs to “break” and get seasoned for it to feel prefect.

I am a TTS (true to size) 35 and the Pigalle 120 runs big so I should have gotten a size 34.5 for them BUT I was concerned about the toe box (as my feet are slightly broad) so I stuck to my TTS. The length is a lil loose for my feet (they don’t fit snugly) and I am a tad concern if the shoes were to expand after wear but I can always wear insoles I guess…

Well then, this little piggy won’t be going marketing anytime soon. They will be staying at home for a while for I need to wear them around the apartment to break the leather. I would also need to expand the toe box and get the vibram soles fixed at MasterFix first before they get to go out!

This won’t be my last Louboutin pair. Uh-uh. No Siree!

I still covet the Prive and No Prive. In Nude. :-) They had better appear in my size, soon!

Meet More Birds!

Remember my post on One Lost Sheep? Serinah was back and I finally met up with her. And some other birds whom I’ve not seen for a lonnnng time!

We set a date on Boxing Day at Picotin..

It was a beauuuuuuuuuutiful day.

I love its horse-themed menu! (Erm, no! They don’t serve horse meat, in case you are wondering.)

I was LATE cos everyone wanted to do BRUNCH and well, uhh.. I always have a wee problem getting on time on Sunday mornings. Never ask me to meet up for Sunday brunch unless you don’t mind me being late.

But of course I am no diva so SO I came with a peace offering for everyone …

Chrismassy Tolberone! Hehe.

Isabelle was also posing with Serinah’s little gift…

Us that day..

Okay, now the food..

I was starving. So much so that I finished up the bread! Picotin has an in-house bakery by the way.

This is my main…

What was it? It was a mouthful. I remembered it as being a roti fillet something..

We shared a dessert..

Which we lovingly savoured as we took out time yakking and updating each other on our lives…

Since it was a lovely day, I took a short stroll for a quick lookaround after I stopped by the little girls’ room..

The setting at Picotin is so serene.

Oh, look what I found tucked comfortably in a little corner..

And I gasped in delight at the sight of a huge rabbit pen a few metres away.

They were sooo cuuuuteeee!!!

Spot the girls!

——-

Now, we met up again after the New Year’s Day..

My GTD:

(Dress – a simple cheap top actually but I figured it can also work as a dress: Cotton On; Yellow Slingbacks: Jimmy Choo; Bag: MBMJ Hillier; watch: Diesel; necklace: H&M; rings: Bvlgari, Tiffany & Co and Lee Hwa)

My roots were growing out and I felt like a skank so I DIY dyed my hair dark. I’m still not used to it being dark, frankly speaking..

Anyways, we met at Da Paolo Il Giardino for dinner..

Us: Serinah, Shana, Isabelle, Claire and myself…

We had…

Calamari Fritti (Deep fried squid with home made tartar sauce)

Pizza

I cant remember what this is called.. Asparagus with Scallops and fresh mozzarella (As seen from the photo. Duh)..

Cartoccio el Frutti de Mare (Spaghetti with seafood and tomatoes wrapped in parchment paper)

Tagliatelle Verdi con Dadalota di Gamberi e Cappesante (Home made spinach pasta with ragout of prawns and scallops, cream, chopped tomatoes and saffron)

La Pasta Essiccata (Linguini with fresh clams, garlic, chilli and white wine)

We continued our yakking at Island Creamery which was a block away..

We had a slice of apple pie..

Shana had Chendol ice cream..

Isabelle and Serinah shared a Pulut Hitam and Milo flavoured ice cream..

My Strawberry Sorbet. Yes, I am conservertive like that.

I smile fondly whenever I look at these candid photos. Oh how we’ve grown up! All of us!

Us 31-year-old birds :-)

Best Friends Forever

Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatch’d, unfledg’d comrade.
- William Shakespeare (Hamlet) -

I grew up with the following girls whom I had the pleasure to know for 18 years. We don’t get to meet as often as we want to (all of us are juggling families and busy schedules) but we try.

And when we do, we have a riot playing catch up.

Gone are the wild party days (in comes the baby poo and diapers). Gone are the naughty flirts (we dont feel sexy anymore). Gone are the incy bitsy skanky outfits (cos we are all out of shape now).

We are Mothers (Fazliana, Ilah and Tanty), Gonna-Be-Mothers (Mona and Yuana) and Mothers-to-Cats (Shana and yours truly here)..

Meet my BFFs (1993-date)…

Mona, Ilah, Fazliana, Yuana, Me (from l-r) Shana had work and she joined us only much later..

Listening intently to Fazliana.. And her stories.. She always has lotsa stories! And she’s the most animated amongst us!

See what I mean! *lol*

I love Starbucks. We love Starbucks. Fazi, Shana and I were once Starbucks baristas in the 90s. Thanks to Starbucks, we are proficient in making that perfect cuppa.

My usual fare at Starbucks: The divine Jave Chip Hazelnut Frappaccino sans whip cream AND a cinnamon raisin bagel. I wouldn’t share my bagel with anyone.

Because I refused to share, the girls shared this molten choco cake (which I found too rich. Am not a big fan of choco cake)..

… and a cinnamon raisin swirl (but nothing can beat my bagel!)

We then had more food at Pastamania.. (I only manage to take a shot of MY dish cos they practically gobbled up theirs before I could say ‘wait!’. Hence our expanding waistlines.)

Mona then had to leave to attend to her husband before he left for his gig at Timbre (yes, Mona’s husband is also a Goodfella)

Shana took her place..

Ilah and I have known each other since we were 5! That’s 26 years of friendship!

I love my friends. Forever. And ever. And ever.

And ever! (we each had Cotton On bags on us as we did a ‘short’ bout of shopping before heading back to our cars. Heh.)

Lastly, on another occassion, I met up with Tanty (who is actually a year my senior in Cedar). The husband and I used to hang out at her crib in Chai Chee alot.

Until she had Baby Aryan Mykiel and then went back to work soon after.

And we got married in August 2008 and got our own place in April 2009.

Tanty had taken half-day leave to spend time with me when we met up that day.

We were oogling at shoes at Wisma when Ilah surprised us with a hello. She was out shopping with her husband and did what I do best with all my bffs’ husbands, “Hey xxx, can you please make yourself useful and help us snap a photo? Ta, love!” AND shove the camera into their hands.. *lol*

I love every single one of you ladies!

Here’s to many more years of friendship.
